What I want to write here I guess it is more personal as it is to do with creativity as an artist and designer. And I guess this can be applied to everyone if they read this or if they like it.
Some time ago I saw a video of David Lynch where he was talking about Creativity. How it is so important to keep your mind fresh and active, not to loose your creative drive or to burn out, as with any of us this can happen and we become more and more frustrated as we try to gain back this creative impulse. Some of us loose it, and as said, it can be so hard to get this back. For many artist or designers this is the worst thing that can happen. No matter how good your technical skill is, without a active imagination you can not create anything that looks good or has any value from an artistic point of view. So, how do you stay active with your imagination and your creativity? One of the things to do is to let yourself be inspired by other artist, museums, books or be active in forums of art or fashion, communicate with people.
This is the main thing, as my significant other always reminds me. To connect with others that have the same passion and drive such as yourself. I remember a university my mind was racing always with so many ideas and images, of stories and things to draw and create. The lack of this interaction with other people that think like you and see the world as you do from an artistic sand point make you slowly loose passions for your own works and art. This is the worst thing that can happen. This can be applied also in music, or writing, any kind of field. This is so simple right? But, I bet we all forget this main rule. So go out and meet other such as yourself, as with me I would draw outside, go to fashion events, study art by looking at others from fashion, classical art, modern art, illustrations and poetry. Some people even have groups where they meet up every Sunday as Bobby Chiu in Canada, and draws for hours with lots of people hen they talk about art, how exiting and fun right? Another key word I just realized, make sure it is fun and you are passionate about it.
If you feel yourself loosing touch with the old creative self, that inner child that used to be so passionate and would love to draw, paint, e.t.c. As yourself then, what made it so amazing for you before , why did you start to love your chosen field of study or career? What moved you as a child or an adult to be possessed with lust for life and design? (in any of its various forms). My point is, focus on what you love and do it fully, keep your passions and the lust for life alive.
We are here for a short time compared to the Universe. Our lives are but shooting stars across a dimly lit night sky. If you must burn, then burn bright and make every moment count.

Thank you so much for posting this. This is exactly how I have been feeling and going through lately. I would want to draw, and grab a pencil and paper, but then when Id go to draw I'd just stare at the white piece of paper and imeadietly go blank and have no idea what to draw, and then I've just been drawing the same things latley. They haven't been new, fresh, or inspiring. Just boring drawings that I don't think are any good. :( I've been feeling no inspiration, and drawing has not been as fun anymore either... :( And when I was a kid I loved to draw so much, Id draw almost the whole day and never get bored or feel uninspired. Looking back on my old art it felt more alive and free, now my art feels dull and constricted. You are so right though, looking to other artists really helps! I tried to do that today and I have a lot more inspiration to draw new things! Thank you so so much again for posting this. It really helped. I love your art, style, and fashion by the way! You really inspire me a lot. Thank you so very much for this lovely post. Im going to try harder to get out of my drawers block, and find inspiration and a love to draw again. ^_^
